I had some stitching time over the weekend and decided to try out the background. It's a fun stitch, which I think will go pretty quickly. My guess is that it will work better if I do the stars first and then stitch the background after that. The stars have a long stitch outline around them, and I think I'd rather match the background stitch up to the long stitches than vice versa.
We're really suffering in the heat these days. I gave a lot of thought before I pulled into the car wash place today where lots of people have to work outside. I finally decided that they are already there - my pulling in doesn't make them have to go outside - and that they may have less business in this heat. So I pulled in, tipped well, and have a clean car!!
We were supposed to get (according to initial projections) 4-6 inches of rain last Friday night and Saturday due to the after effects of Hurricane Don. Closer to the time it was to arrive, they downgraded the amount to 3-5 inches - and we got a DRIZZLE! We haven't had a really good rain for at least 6 months, and are a foot behind in waterfall for the year. When I think about the fact that Indiana used to get 35 inches of SNOW every winter when I lived there - to be down by a foot doesn't seem so much, but as we know, Texas ain't Indiana - in so many ways!!
You know it's bad when you plan your day so the dog doesn't have to be out in the heat for very long.
And finally, are you coming to ANG National Meeting here in San Antonio at the end of the month? If so, there's a bus you can sign up for which will take you to Colleen's shop (The Needleworks) in Austin on Wednesday, August 31. I'm going to be down there helping people get loaded on the bus. Look for info about it on the store website. http://theneedleworks.com/
Stay cool and happy stitching.
