Ok, it's slow, but I've made SOME progress

DSC_0302 I've finished his dress except for the little spot on his right sleeve, and the green part of his robe is all finished.   I have to admit I disobeyed Miss Amy a little bit - I went with darker olive  green on the under part and lining of his robe.   I think this is the first time I've strayed from the straight and narrow Amy Bunger directions - I've loved everything so far - but wanted the green to be darker.

I'm going to start on the outer brown part of his robe next.

Focus.   Focus.    Focus.    That's what I need to do!!

Happy Stitching.

Stash reduction

I decided it was time to admit that I won't finish a few pieces in my stash, so I've listed two of them for sale on eBay.
DSC_0311

Check it out - you might just have to have one or both of them for your stash.

Here's the other one.  They're actually almost the same size, so you could do them as a pair.   I was going to put them in one of our guest bedrooms, but I redecorated and they don't really fit the style of the room now.

You can do a search for Sharon G on eBay to find them - or email me and I'll send you a link.

I'm still doing bit by bit work on Joseph.  I promise.  I will absolutely, definitely get him done soon.

Happy Stitching.

July 4th in the mountains

IMG_0068 We left last Thursday to spend a long weekend in the mountains with friends - Park City, Utah, to be precise.   We had a great time and views were spectacular.

Park City is a very granola town - lots of middle aged, fairly well off hippies live there.

This was our view out the back of our friends' condo - gorgeous.

I was the only non golfer in our group of 8, but I went with all of them one day to a course not too far from Sundance, UT.   No Robert Redford sightings, unfortunately.

Stitched a little bit on Joseph.   I'll post him later.

It's great to be home.

Happy Stitching.
Love, Jane

Pile on for Amy Bunger's newsletter

The Stitching Sisters have a post on their blog this morning saying how wonderful Amy Bunger's newsletter is. I have to pile on - big time. It's such a great newsletter that I was actually telling DH about it! Can you imagine? Of course, he loved the story from this month's newsletter about Jill's husband playing in the ProAm with Phil Michelson (and getting an eagle) before the St. Jude Golf Tournament in Memphis a couple weeks ago.

So, do yourself a big favor and sign up for it today.    www.amybunger.com

Great job, Amy and Robin.

Happy Stitching.

"What's she been doing?" you may wonder (or maybe not).

DSC_0301 I've had my not-so virtual behind in a chair all day long for four days in a Tony Minieri class at The Needleworks in Austin.  This was the first time he has taught his newest piece, In The Footsteps of the Pharoahs, which is number 4 in his series, I believe.  Each section is an historically accurate representation of a fabric or other textile from the era of the Egyptian Pharoahs.

It was intense, let me tell you.   I'm sure many of you have taken his classes before, so you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm showing a picture of the result of my four-day adventure - but only reluctantly.   Crazy that I made such a small dent in this canvas.

I'll have to say I learned a lot about technique from him which will apply to things I do from now on.   I'm taking another canvas enhancement class with him in August, and I've signed up to take his four day Back to Basics class in February of next year (or some time next year).   He's very instructive and good.   Lots of funny stories along the way, too.

DSC_0303

I'm posting this picture, because the blue band here is the only part of the whole thing that is actually finished.  Most of the areas are at least 5 steps - some are 7 or 8.  Maybe I'll finish this in my lifetime.

No stitching today.   Didn't want to look at anything related to stitchy-ness.

Later.
